The people of Punjab and Chandigarh can gear up to some good news. December 6, 2024, has also been announced as a public holiday in the honour of the martyrdom day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. This holiday shall be celebrated in all the government offices, boards, corporations and all other government establishment of Punjab and in the union territory of Chandigarh. It is only a special occasion that operates during these two geographical areas and not throughout the country.
From November the 24th to December 6th
At first, the public holiday emerged to be on November 24 but the government has shifted it to December 6. This done has been officially notified and thus people do know the change of the new holiday calendar. Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji died in 1675 on attempting to offer Namaz and under the policy of Aurangzeb of the Mughals. He served for the right of the every single person to practice his or her faith freely.
