This is a measure that has been adopted by the Canada government to allow PNP applicants to apply for an open work permit. From August 11, 2024, to December 31, 2024, the update grants eligible candidates the opportunity to work in any establishment across the country, making them secure in their livelihood while they wait for their permanent residency status.
Requirements for obtaining open work permit
Candidates who meet one of these conditions can apply:
Valid Work Permit Holders: If you meet the conditions as follows: having a valid work permit, having applied for a new one and having a support letter from your province or territory, then you are qualified.
Expired Work Permit Holders: If your work permit expired on or after May 7 2024 and you have applied for renewal then you may be in luck. Reinstatement requirements should also be met in order not to face any further complications to your chaotic claim.
Work Permit Extension Applicants: If you applied for an extension after May 7, 2024 and have been approved to work then you can be issued with this open permit.
