This order is a major breakthrough for all the contract employees expecting regularization, especially to the guest teachers and teachers working in Madhya Pradesh where Directorate of Public Education has acted according to the High Court’s direction.
Impact on Guest Teachers
At present, there are about 70, 000 guest teachers teaching in different schools, colleges and universities of the state. These teachers I had been hired to cover the teaching vacancies in the education department.
Nevertheless, many of them remain anxious and eager for the moment when such a worker will receive a regularization that provides him/her with stable employment status and the consequent rights and benefits.
High Court’s Directive
The High Court recalled the case during the hearings and ordered the state government to stick to set procedures for contract employees’ regularization. That was a message in the ruling that called for the government to do the right thing to address employment issues of these teachers. The High Court decisions have been significant to push the Directorate of Public Education to take an early action to address the situation.
Official Order Released
Subsequent to or due to this direction from the High Court, the Directorate has now come out officially whether the process of regularization of Guest teachers is on or not.
This order should have a direct effect on the 70,000 guest teachers working for the state. Some of these people have been eagerly expecting to know what their status as employees is in this country, and this decision is important for them.
