Increasing Requirement for Legalization Employees who are working under contract outsourced and daily wages employees are raising their demand more for regularization in Uttarakhand. A similar call is being heard in many departments in the countryand the employees have even been reported to protest against the government.
The urbanically employed Kumaon and Garhwal Mandal Development Corporations Joint Employees Federation in the Indian State of Uttarakhand has called upon the administration for early regularization as earlier on this had been a promise.
Guarantees from the Government
Federation President Dinesh Gururani while making the point said that a peaceful and constructive agitation is being organised throughout the state without affecting works. It has also being a practice to promote environmental conservation during the movement.
He also demanded that the authorities point out that they agreed on unification of GMVN and KMVN with the Tourism Development Council as well as on the negotiation of the employment status of the workers. But up till now nothing has been done thus creating a lot of concern among the employees.
Employees Key Role in Tourism Development
The tourism sector in Uttarakhand has immensely benefited from the employment of contract employees. These employees had it most busy during the COVID-19 incidences whereby they offered their services to the organization to the best of their abilities.
The government had earlier promised to regularize these employees and the fact that the government has not fulfilled this early promise is what has caused frustration among these employees.
Court Intervention and the Recent Changes
Another recent judgement also commanded the government to look into the problems of regularization for contract employees. In fact the government had made these intentions clear and had begun making preparations to make many of these employees permanent.
Nevertheless, there is still no significant steps made in this regard, so employees are asking the state government to step it up. They say preparations are being made and the workers wish that the strike will soon be over
