Minimum Wage Update
The current rule in Australia is that no employee can earn less than the minimum wage even if they are not covered by such awards. This is the minimum sum an employer must pay a worker for work done or service rendered. The government adjusts the minimum wage based on restructuring it for the current state of the economic systems in the country.
Recent Changes
The last raise was made to the minimum wage on July 1, 2024. The new rate is $24,10 per hour. This wage is for those employees who do not fall under any special agreements or awards and are affected over one hundred industries. These updates are done by the Fair Work Commission of Australia.
Who is Eligible?
Every workplace in Australia that is not of exclusive bargaining that is not falling under anti-SWW must pay the adult workers the minimum wage. The law applies to workers below the age of 21, trainees, apprentices, students within the international market, part-time workers, and the disabled.
How to Check Your Wage
The Pay and Conditions Tool can be used by workers on the Fair Work Ombudsman website. Who must read the current pay rates, penalties, and allowances before using this tool. You can also use the section of the Fair Work Ombudsman website that provides detailed information on wages, taxes and record keeping.
Up to now we have not see any notice mentioning that the minimum wage will be increased in the future of November, 2024. This data was last updated in the end of July 2024. Any information about the elevate of the interest rate in November is just a rumor unless if it is from the government official.
