Environmental scan of a New Age in Immigration
On the 30th of September, the Canadian province of Alberta will introduce a new permanent residency scoring system to be implemented for the purpose of attracting the skilled workers by 2024.
Immigrants of such ages will benefit from this initiative which is part of the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) whose objective is to match the skills acquired by immigrants with the existing job vacancies in Alberta. Alberta can only benefit from allowing skilled personnel to have an easier time in applying for immigration streams to the province.
No Fees for Applications
Another great aspect of the Worker EOI system is that is free for all interested in making the submissions. This makes it spacious of all qualified people who would wish to apply for the post within that company.
Comprehensive Scoring System
The candidates will also be ranked concerning their education level, fluency in the English or French language, work experience, age, and relation or affiliation with individuals in Alberta.
The following is the scoring system, which makes it possible to award the candidates the overall score that is fair, as well as reflect the current needs of the labour market in Alberta.
How to Submit Your Expression of Interest
All applicants will declare their disability through the AAIP portal of their own volition. This means that they will feed to the system, education, skills, and work experience as prescribed by the job requirements. It is important to point out that during the self-declaration process applicants can claim all the relevant credentials they require without further confirmation of these claims at that specific time.
Understanding the Points Grid
- Education: Up to 22 points is awarded depending upon the education level, extra points for those who obtained the degree in the province of Alberta.
- Language Proficiency: An applicant must pass a language test; the better a candidate’s language skills, the more points he or she earns.
- Work Experience: The points for relevant work experience can reach the score of 21 at most.
- Family Connections: Up to 8 points are awarded to having an immediate family residing in Alberta.
- Economic Factors: Having a job offer in Alberta can add more points and especially in the growing occupation in demand fields.
- Age Considerations: The young persons, especially those within the age of 21–34 years receive the highest point than the older applicants.
Preparing for a Successful Submission
In an effort to enhance the odds of success, candidates should undertake a number of measures before the completion and submission of the Worker EOI.
In light of this, it is important to refer back to the Seven Worker Streams for AAIP to compare the compliance with all these criteria.
Knowledge of the points grid is necessary in order to gain the maximum number of points and thus increase results.
