Which Groups Gain from the Rise?

This move will be in the favor of more than 1.6 lakh government employees and about 82,000 pension holders across Tripura. This new increase means that the total DA for state government employees will have gone up to 30%.

Background of DA Increases

The current BJP government which assumed office in March 2018 has granted the recommendations of the 7t’h Central Pay Commission effective from October l st 2018. On the other hand, the earlier left front government government used to release the DA twice a year.

It is for this reason that the BJP government has made several phased adjustments. The last hike was declared in March 2024 with a hike of 5 percent. With this latest increase, a DA gap between the state employees and the central government employees has been closed slightly.

Currently state employees get 30% DA and the central government employees get 53% DA. In the last two years, Tripura government has accorded its nod for a total enhancement of 27% in DA.
