A new stimulus check program unveiled for Evanston, Illinois, residents plans to give out $450 monthly to eligible households. This program, now called the Guaranteed Minimum Income (GMI), is intended for those in economic difficulties, including those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Exploring the Guaranteed Minimum Income Program
The goals of the GMI program are to provide residents with a reasonable level of income to meet their living expenses. The $450 per month checks will affect over 140 families within the community, most especially those with children below the age of five years and within the tract 8092 and others. Besides seeking to reduce poverty, this venture also seeks to learn how some of this money is spent so as to get ideas for future community projects.
Eligibility Criteria
To get the $450 stimulus checks applicants are subjected to some form of conduct. They must be a resident of Tract 8092, make 1.84 times the federal poverty level or more, and have children under the age of five. These requirements are supposed to help to focus on the support of the neediest families in Evanston.
Participation and Additional Benefits
All these participants will be asked to give interviews and complete the survey by the end of the program to help the city to understand how residents can be helped.
